Panther Wildlife Management Area Panther Wildlife Management Area is a 7,800 acre heavily wooded, hardwood forest. The park offers hiking trails, scenic overlooks, trout fishing, picnicking, swimming pool, hunting, cabins, large meeting lodge with commercial kitchen, fireplaces, six campground sites, streams and a large variety of wildlife. Terror of the Tug is an outdoor drama based on the events in the life of Police Chief Sid Hatfield and the Coalfield Wars. The events in the play took place as depicted in the 1987 movie, "Matewan." The play was written by Jean Battlo, a McDowell County author. The play is performed in July of each year at the McArts Amphitheater in Welch, West Virginia.
